Afrolatinidad Month

My goal for this project is to build a strong unified identity for the Afro-Latino community. I will do this by creating a special month where throughout the city there will be events, workshops and much more to educate people more on the Afro- Latino community. This initiative can change the narrative of Afro-Latino communities by sharing culture, music, and stories within the Afro-Latino community. In the end, I hope to educate, uplift and spread awareness of the Afro-Latino identity.

For this project I wanted to highlight the duality in the Afro-latin identity; at times there is a constant struggle to decide how to identity to others, whether as Latino or Black. Afro-latinos live in the grey area of both identities because they don't have to claim and stick to one identity.
